I used to task at a small family-owned hardware store. The job was simple plus I liked the minutes. My only complaint with the job was the temperature control. The store was situated in a genuinely aged brick building on Main Street plus was equipped with an aged gas oil furnace. Every time the oil furnace started up, it made a tremendous amount of noise plus blew a ton of dust into the air. It often offered myself and others a vicious headache, plus I was always coughing plus sneezing. Plus, the shelves of the store were always in need of cleaning because of the oil furnace. The oil furnace didn’t even manage to keep the store perfectly comfortable. It would blast overheated air steadily until it achieved the temperature control setting plus then shut off entirely. The temperature swings were seriously unpleasant. There were also chilly spots in certain aisles plus chilly drafts coming in around the windows. Every time a client arrived, the influx of chilly outside air would cause the oil furnace to beginning up again. I was, however, thankful to have a honestly working furnace. The store was not outfitted with any type of cooling system. I needed to rely on electric fans for cooling. Portable fans were not passable to keep up with outside rapidly decreasing temperatures in the high eighties plus brutal humidity. They simply blew the dust around plus created more cleaning for myself and others to do. The store was properly overheated plus sticky while in the summertime. Whenever the door opened, I had to worry about pollen, dust, exhaust fumes plus bugs getting inside.
